Fit Me’s belief is to empower individuals to pursue sustainable, healthy lifestyles. They address a challenge in society, namely the limit of time available for fitness and dietary education. Unfortunately, many people mistakenly believe that maintaining a healthy lifestyle requires possessing a gym membership or a high income to purchase expensive foods. One can live healthily by committing to regular home exercise routines and prioritizing whole, unprocessed foods.

Through a series of interviews with various individuals, I discovered that a commonality among them was the absence of adequate time to engage in fitness activities and meal preparation for the week ahead.

Background/Problem

Quotes from user interviews

“I work a 9-5 and have to pick up my kids from school after, I am working on a side business to get out of my 9-5 so its hard to find time to go to the gym.”

- Father of two kids

“I am a full time student and work out everyday. I honestly don’t know how to cook so I just eat top ramen and kraft mac & cheese. I don’t feel the best eating processed foods and want to learn how to cook healthy meals.”

- College Student

Our goal to this issue was straightforward and innovative. We aimed to provide a comprehensive range of at-home exercises and nutritious diet recipes to our users.

Moreover, we recognized that each user has a unique set of fitness aspirations and objectives. Therefore, our app was designed to be fully customizable and personalized, enabling users to tailor their regimen plans to suit their individual preferences and requirements.

To achieve this level of customization, we carefully considered and refined the questions we asked users to elicit the most pertinent information and develop the best possible plan for each user.

The Goal

The Research

Competitive Analysis:

Once I completed my competitive analysis, I learned the basic necessities a website needs from a business perspective. One key insight is having an email list CTA to gather the target audience.

After analyzing the strengths and weaknesses of my competitors, I developed a list of questions to ask users. During the interview process, I focused on vital topics related to an individual's daily routine. Once the interviews were completed, I categorized everyone's habits into specific groups. The primary research objective was to determine what factors contributed to poor dietary and exercise habits.

Affinity Mapping

User Persona:

Out of the 6 user interviews, 4 out of 6 believed they did not have enough time to exercise due time management and work.

Wireframing

When creating the wireframes, I took inspiration from Dribbble before starting. I wanted to create a questionnaire after signing up to better understand who our user is. Following that, the user will be given custom diet and exercise plans.

The Solution

To enhance user engagement and promote a more appealing perception of a healthy lifestyle, we opted to develop a comprehensive questionnaire. This questionnaire was thoughtfully designed to gather relevant information from users, allowing us to customize a diet and exercise dashboard tailored to their specific needs and preferences.

By personalizing the dashboard, we aimed to foster a greater sense of attraction and motivation among users, encouraging their active participation in achieving their health goals. Additionally, we recognized the significance of breaking down a daunting endeavor into manageable steps.

Conclusion

This project helped me understand how to be empathic for users. When learning about UX research I assumed after the user interviews I needed to start thinking of solutions.. It's crucial not to immediately jump to solutions because a deep understanding of the problem and the context is essential for creating effective and user-centered designs.
